*HIGH FIVE® is the only recognized certification for recreation and sport in Canada based on the Five Principles of Healthy Child Development for children aged 4-12 years. HIGH FIVE helps organizations enhance the quality of their children's programs and provide positive experiences for children.
The HIGH FIVE® vision is that through sustained involvement in quality programs, all children aged 4-12 are experiencing healthy development. By becoming certified through a HIGH FIVE course or becoming a HIGH FIVE Registered Organization, organization’s can ensure that children throughout BC have positive and welcoming recreation experiences that enables them to thrive. Recreation experiences have a life-long impact on children

Who we are
Happyland officially opened its doors with Adam Burley and his Mom, Sandy Burley at the helm on July 1 2016, in Maple Ridge B.C. But the story began long before that.
Anyone who meets Adam can see that he is a soft-spoken man with a gentle way. But anyone who knows him can speak for his passion to help others and especially kids who come from neighbourhoods with few opportunities and have experienced bullying and depression.
When Adam was a boy his mum, Sandy, worked double shifts 6 and 7 days a week while supporting and raising 3 young sons on her own. Adam, the youngest, was a shy boy who was bullied at school. He had few friends and fewer safe opportunities to make friends. When he was a teen, Adam suffered from depression and had suicidal thoughts.
But things started to change as Adam grew up, became employed and began volunteering his time on behalf of children and struggling families in the housing complex he grew up in. Today, under their registered non-profit ‘Happyland’ Adam and Sandy work together to create free, wholesome, fun filled activities and provide learning opportunities for children and families in low-income neighbourhoods.
